Appignano, a tiny medieval village 3,6 km off the village of Castiglione Messer Raimondo, dominates from above the valley of the river Fino. Appignano is located 374 meters above sea level and counts a population of 131 inhabitants and consists today of a handful of houses. The village offers a unique bustle of narrow streets and houses with their colorful balconies with geraniums and the Gran Sasso in the distance. The silence, that reigns in the streets, is only broken by the sound of the wind, while a feeling of peace pervades the mind of the visitor.
