Tuscany

The wavy hills and the picturesque (historical) towns and villages, provide a peaceful and a unique atmosphere. A holiday in Tuscany is first and foremost magnificent cultural experiences, tasty food, tranquillity, and sun and swimming by the coast.

In the western part of Tuscany you find Costa Etrusca, the coast that faces towards The Tyrrhenian Sea. There are many seaside resorts on this coast, such as Livorno, Viareggio, Golfo di Baratti, San Vincenzo, Versilia, Marina di Bibbona, Cecina and Castiglioncello.

Miles and miles of beach area characterizes the coast between Livorno and La Spezia with restaurants, hotels and board walks that all blend. Pisa and Castiglioncello are located about 20 minutes drive from the coast, and is therefore a good point of departure for sun and bath experiences by The Tyrrhenian Sea. Further south and a bit further away from the coastline you will find the two cities Grosseto and Massa Marittima, both are located just half an hour drive from the coast and offer excellent swimming opportunities.

However, if you would like to stay close to the great cultural experiences, we recommend that you stay north in Tuscany. Find yourself for instance a holiday home close to one of the beautiful villages Lucca, Montecatini Terme or Pistoia. In these areas you will still be just half an hour to one hour and a half hour drive away from the coast, but at the same time close to world-class attractions such as Florence, Pisa and Lucca.

If you want to experience the characteristic Tuscany landscape with Cypress trees, olive trees and wineyards, we recommend that you stay a bit further south in Tuscany, for instance in one of the charming villages Chianti, San Gimignano, San Casciano di Bagni, Volterra, Chiusi-Chianciano, Cortona or even in Siena. In these areas you will experience that there are considerably less tourists and therefore a bit more space, even during the summer months. Choose a holiday home with a swimming pool or go for a swim in the big lake Lago Trasimeno in Umbria.
